Medihelp has never had any issue with retrieving in excess of half a million rand from me over more than 120 monthly installments. In February I requested the form to change my direct debit banking details. I did not provide Medihelp with a timeline of when I will be changing my banking details. Based on my request, with no timeline, Medihelp decided without consultation with me to cancel my existing direct debit. When Medihelp could not retrieve my direct debit at the end Feb/begin March (because they cancelled the direct debit), I received notification of this and immediately contacted Medihelp via their online chat. Medihelp online chat confirmed that they will not stop my benefits while they wait for my new banking details. Towards the end of March, Medihelp suspended my benefits. After contacting Medihelp (again), and being met with frankly incoherent lies and excuses and insincere apologies, my benefits were reinstated at the end March. During this period, I submitted a hospital pre-authorisation for a minor procedure which Medihelp rejected since this was at the time that my benefits were suspended. With no hospital pre-authorisation, I had to pay for the procedure myself. Medihelp reinstated my previous bank details, but unfortunately Medihelp could not retrieve the outstanding balance since I closed my previous bank account. Since this, I have received 3 emails about the fact that Medihelp could not retrieve their payment. To date, I have not received one phone call from Medihelp to resolve this situation which they caused and that resulted in significant inconvenience and expenses to myself. Disgusting treatment one of the many people that pay your salary!
