Poor service and staff are utterly rude relating to chronic illness

After being back and forth to the Doctor a few times over a period of a month I ended up in Hospital for a week due to Hypertension after having Covid-19. I receive an SMS from Medihelp that I need to contact them for authorisation of my medication as I'm registered as a Chronic patient. When speaking to them, I ask the person (Sebastian) if my chronic benefit covers me for a blood pressure monitor to check my BP when I don't feel well as it was part of the motivation from the Nephrologist he and he says no because Hypertension is not a serious issue and you can just take a tablet when you not feeling well. I am like shocked and go on to say that Hypertension is one of the biggest killers globally and he was like just well you can take a tablet to get better. I was like shocked. On to the next part of the issue, turs out the SMS I received for the approval was for an a script they received a month ago. I'm like you only approving it now a month later, I could have been dead already. I was under the impression that they busy with the script and motivation from the Specialist which was sent a week ago already but he says no they must still get to that. I'm like in utter disbelief. When I queried about all this as we pay a lot of money monthly for this, he says well you can speak to your Broker about that and I cant help you as if to shrug me off and offer no assistance. This is a damn shame and I'm so sorry we chose this Medical Aid.

Still no call from Medihelp. It seems they lose their clientele frequently because their clients die before getting the proper medical attention and medication they need. Should have known they don't take their clients health seriously just by the way my matter was handled. Please stay clear of this Medical Aid.
