Medihelp medical aid, please be careful with them!

I was a member for two years with them, always something with the claim that they don’t pay or disputes!!

I only claimed a few times, in the time I was with them and yet no success!

Eventually I cancelled my membership with them in 2014, herewith the letter I send to them.

“Member No: *******

Dear Medihelp, herewith my cancelation letter, as send to you today, 28th May 2014:

I will terminate my membership with your medical aid as from the end of 2014/07/31.

My new medical aid will start from the first of August 2014.

Please cancel all debit orders and ensure no additional payments go off from my account after this date, if so all fees will be returned with cost to yourself.

28 May 2014”

I also have proof that medihelp and their attorneys they received my cancelation letter, ever since then I got demanding letters from medihelp and later on macrobert attorneys that I still owe them money, with interest and legal fees now over R 2400 rand already.

Even they attorneys have all the documentation, yet they still listed me on ITC and threaten me with legal action!

I would recommend everyone to be vigilant and to be so careful if and when you decide to cancel your subscription to medihelp. Make double sure,,,,

I don’t know if this will even do anything but I need to try and do something!

Take care

Johan Van DE Merwe

Dear jgl502

I want to assure you that Medihelp values each member and that we constantly strive to render an excellent service and support to our members.

During your membership period you were registered on the Dimension Prime 1 benefit option, which is a hospital plan with limited day-to-day benefits. Therefore, according to the structure of the benefit options, not all day-to-day services would qualify for benefits. It remains the member’s responsibility to select the risks to be covered and to choose a benefit option accordingly.

Your membership was terminated on 31 July 2014, as requested. As your membership fees were payable in arrears, your last payment was due at the end of July 2014. Your debit order for this transaction at the end of July 2014 was rejected by your bank and your final fee instalment therefore remained unpaid.

Due to your failure to pay your subscription fees on 31 July 2014, Medihelp followed the debt collection process. After you did not respond to any correspondence and SMSs sent to your from August 2014 to November 2014, we handed you over to our attorneys to recover the outstanding subscription debt on our behalf.

You remain liable for the outstanding subscription. Your details will be removed from ITC once you have settled the outstanding debt.

Kind regards
