Medihelp forces 82 year old pensioner to cancel
Each year one can expect an increase from the Medical Aids - this should however be communicated. My father an 82 year old pensioners never received the communication from Medihelp and instead realised that their ludicrous increase to R6000 per month was completely unaffordable on his pension when it went off via debit order. Unfortunately and conveniently for Medihelp the increases kick in after the period allowed to change your plan has already closed. Without the option to change his plan he will now be forced to cancel his Medical Aid.
It's appalling that the Medical Aid cannot assist a pensioner and is quite content to take half his pension. Blissfully ignoring the Consumer Protection Act that makes provision for downgrades.

I tried assisting in downgrading his plan, but to no avail. Ironically I'm probably going to cost them more in bad PR by telling every single person I know about this than it would have cost them to put him on a cheaper plan. The question is are they still going to fix it or am I going to have to add their hashtag to my social media system and truthfully answer Medihelp questions from a member's perspective.
