Medihelp does not believe in servicing clients themselves
We live in strange times indeed. Some medical aids like Medihelp are of opinion that client relations are not necessary for sustainable business. Medihelp for example does not inform its members of option changes on an annual basis as one would expect. This information -crucial to decide the option for the upcoming year - is just not shared with members. And should you enquire; a broker phones you wanting to "upsell".
I actually contacted medihelp myself and indicated I want to NOT work through a broker. This was after a bad experience where I had to search for the number of the broker appointed by THEM to search me. This borker refered me back to medihelp when I requested help!!!
However, this seems unacceptable. Even after I indicated that I was not serviced at all by the broker Medihelp seems to ignore my request for direct assistance (after all, I joined directly and not through any broker). They seem to appoint a broker on your behalf (?) who NEVER contact you and even if you then discover that you have a broker - and contact such - still does not get serviced.
Be careful of this medical aid…. The risk of belonging to a substandard option is just too big. The so-called appointed brokers do NOTHING but you are "forced" to belong to them.
What a disappointment of a medical aid. One would think they would look after their members - especially the ones who have belonged for several years like me. Seems your money is welcome but not your expectation to receive information and service.
Ps. I did complain and got on the first complained some watered down - arrogant - reply. Upon my reply they just IGNORED me. WOW Medihelp. You obviously do not need me as a PAYING HEALTHY customer!!
Your complaint is being investigated and feedback will be provided as soon as possible.
Kind regards

I still maintain there brokers did not provide me with any information and as you can see for the above - well - they actually do not have to. It is my responsibility to go to their website and fami****ise myself. Still, why then appoint brokers without my consent in the first place.
Medihelp has only justified their position - poorest feedback I have ever seen on a complaint. Listen to this part: " For this reason, we publish a host of information on our secured website developed especially for members, including benefit guides and brochures specifying the coverage offered by our different benefit options. We encourage members to consult these sources of information in order to make informed decisions about the most suitable benefit option for their unique healthcare needs".
Just for the record, when the uninvited broker phoned me again she actually tried to "upsell" and only when I told her that I am NOT interested in her advise (and never even appointed her to start of)did she abruptly leave the conversation. This was AFTER I selected an option and notified the geniuses at Medihelp. I therefore find their answer arrogant and unacceptable.
I think it is clear to me to rather not associate me with these geniuses any further. Their client service has gone to the drain. Well done Medihelp, real champs! I trust you would not mind losing a client .... After all, who are we to question your process.
ps. They only answered my second complaint after I wrote this review. Before that, they ignorered me flat.
