Medihelp - Claim Rejections & Co-payments

Being loyal Medihelp members for years, I must honestly say I am really disappointed with them. When claiming medicines there are mostly co-payments due and some medications are totally rejected. You have to use generic meds and certain pharmacies in order to avoid higher co-payments. If there is no generic available for a specific medicine, the members are penalised. Recently the doctor prescribed duolin for my son which they rejected. In 2018 they paid the exact same medication for my son. Their rules and regulations changed, stating it is unsafe for kids younger than 12 yrs. Doctors won't prescribe it for children if it was not safe to use. This is just one example of meds they rejected to pay. When it comes to vaccinations, there is always a co-payment involved. Even private children clinic consultations cannot be claimed back. About a year ago, they only paid pathology lab tests of a specific lab where previously the members had a choice between labs. The monthly premium for both my son and I is R6180. If you add up all the extra's you have to pay, it is ridiculous.
