Medihelp - Bad service

I had to de-register my dependent, who is my Fiance, from my medical aid due to the threat that my job was not secure, the next day I found out that we will continue to receive a full income for 3 months at least and wanted to re-instate my defendant, I was told to write a letter requesting this and it would take 5 to 7 days to do, it took them nearly a full week to answer my mail and ask for a reason why they should re-instate my member and this is subject to approval, I rep**** to them yesterday and explained my financial situation, I have not had any response as yet but I have paid for the full month and now do not have the cover I paid for, in these financially difficult times and the pandemic threat, and considering that I have been a loyal customer for over 20 years, I cannot understand how Medihelp cannot re-instate my member without all this drama. It looks as if Medihelp 's service is seriously going down and I would not recommend that anyone joins them. I think I should start looking for an alternative medical aid if this is the service they offer as my partner cannot be without medical cover, he joined the fund 4 months ago without and issues but now they are questioning re-instating him, honestly it makes no sense to me.

I cannot believe that this is Medihelps response to re-instate my dependent: My Company is in the process of a S189 consultation process, I do not have my retrenchment notification in writing as yet. I cannot understand how it can be such an issue to re-instate my dependent, why can medihelp not advise that a member cannot be reinstated if he is deregistered, this makes absolutely no sense to me, why do they even give you the option? And in the meantime they will continue to take my full premium for this month but I am paying for a dependent that cannot be reinstated.

This is discussing service and I am now in the process of changing medical aids, what happens when I do lose my job, will I haveto beg to rejoin the medical aid when I get a job again, they are taking almost R4800 a month for a hospital plan for me and my dependents and I pay that happily every month and have never missed a payment and only had minimal claims in all the years, I honestly cannot understand this service.

This is the response from Medihelp???

Dear Mrs Baily Please send Medihelp your retrenchment notification from your employer, since reinstatement is contradictory to the Rules of Medihelp. Upon receipt of the information, the enquiry will be handled.
