Medihelp apply law inconsistently.
Disappointed with Medihelp Medical Aid.
In ***1 my wife joined Medihelp Dimension Elite MH***. She joined from Sasolmed Medscheme where she was a dependant on her fathers medical since birth. She had no waiting periods when she joined.
I joined Medihelp Prime 3 on ***1 with no waiting period. I joined from a medical insurance and not even a medical aid.
***1 we got married. My wife cancelled her membership to become a dependant on my profile. I have registered her as dependant on my profile effective from ***1. My membership MH ***. Now there is a waiting period for her for 3 months..Why? The answer I got from the agent at the Medihelp call centre is according to law there must be a waiting period. I have contacted Willie Viljoen at CMAC Brokers and he said unfortunately the law apply. I find that very strange as when she joined and when I joined there where none waiting periods applicable. She was not even on an different Medical aid, she was on Medihelp Elite package.
What I find very strange is on the 09 of September 2019 my uncle joined Medihelp Prime 3 from Sasol medscheme. We actually refered my uncle to Medihelp and gave him all the contact numbers. They have NO waiting periods. So how does Medihelp apply the law? Is this law only app**** to Medihelp members when the move to another profile on the same aid?
My wife is currently pregnant. Bloodtest confirmed it. She was for 4 years a member on the Elite package.
What client care does Medihelp offer when actually a Medihelp member needs medical care. Surely there must be a more legit explanation. Why is the law app**** only to certain people. Should we refer this matter to the medical Ombudsman?

My wife had no waiting period in 2016 although she had a list of conditions. I had no waiting period in 2018. My uncle in September 2019 had no waiting period although they have existing conditions and reference to operations needed. How was the law app**** in this cases?
What I understand from this is that each beneficiary's enrolment conditions are determined individualy and then the law is app**** according to the Aid's discretion.
When is the law app**** and when not. Surely if the law is to be supp****, then every single member joining should have a waiting period.
When I registered my wife on my profile we submit the history, with chronic conditions and everything we know of. The only thing not knowing at that time was that she will be pregnant within a few weeks. If knowing all this trouble with Medihelp's applying of the law, she would have stayed on as member on her profile, and then after the birth moved to mine.
For more than 4 years she was a member with benefits on Medihelp. Now only moving on to be a dependant rather than a member , the law will be app**** (for the first time) she will have not medical covering in her first 3 months of pregnancy.
