Medi-Help No Star Review!!!

If there was a no star option I would have chosen that!! I am dearly sorry for going with Medi-Help. Be thoroughly informed before considering. Which is also difficult as 'no person' can clearly understand their explanation on their plans and what you sign up for before you are in a crises situation and will soon enough find out what is excluded and will have to come from your own pocket. I read through the reviews on this site and noticed that a bad review is posted almost every day to every second day? Enough of a indication of what you will be dealing with!!! Talking with consultants throughout a 8 year period I clearly stated that I am not a 'sick' person but in times of crises I need proper coverage, which I was clearly informed would be the case on the plan I am on. Correct me if I am wrong but I now understand they chop and change their plans over a period of time as deemed necessary?? I collapsed at work, was unconscious and on account of a paramedic was taken to hospital to stabilize. Submitted to Medi-Help as a orange code, as serious !! With only red code being more critical. ER account not paid. Accounts on tests came back with huuuuuuuuge Co-Paments payable by me. Co-payment a must before looking into paying balances. If a medical crises of this extend is not covered how will other claims be handled??? I have being with them for 8+ years with no serious claims apart from Dr.'s appointments. I guess if you want loyalty get a dog?? The list of excuses goes on and on. First query on non payment I had to get authorization... a bit hard I would say if you are unconscious!!! Then its the plan you are on, then it is this then it is that. So dissapointed!!!! So dissapointed!!! So dissapointed!!

Dear Medihelp,

Thank you for your generic message, which is clearly a copy for every complaint you get on this site. I now more than ever feel like just a number with this Aid.

I read through bad reviews and wonder where everything went wrong with this medical aid. As MediHelp WAS A RELIABLE 'household brand' growing up.

I would just like to add to above review: With some medical bills not being paid and big co-payments ads up and streams in, with a critical situation I had no control over. (ex. one account (of a few) on tests done was K3400 compulsory co-payment was K2700) Hearing all the excuses and loopholes on their plans, used not to settle accounts, with shock and utter despair my first thought was that it would be far better to literally not make it in a crises situation than to rely on a Company you thought had your back. Feeling the despair that you would drown with outstanding bills and balances afterwards which places unbearable stress on a single income that can not be afforded.

If crises arise in future will this nightmare be repeated or be even worse?

ONLY TO UPDATE, you will never win with Medi-Help!! :-( :-( :-(

2022.07.13:
ME: Good day,

Thank you for below response.

MEDIHELP: In the event of an emergency medical condition the admission must be authorized on the following workday after the admission. Take note that you, the hospital or treating doctor can request authorisation for a hospital admission. Medihelp has no record of any attempt to obtain hospital authorisation by any of the previously mentioned parties.

ME to Medihelp: I was unconscious the first day of admission, the second day (and a few days after) I was still very sick and ‘bedridden’ apart from the MRI that was done. Somebody had to take me to the hospital for the MRI as I could not drive. There was no way in this situation that authorization could have being done on the second day after admission even if I was aware of this one critical rule. As I also stated this was the first time in 8 years that I had a crises of this kind, and the first time in my life I was admitte in ER. Had I known of this critical rule it could have being handled. On rejection of this account I did phone Medihelp and afterwards the ER and asked why no authorization was done. Their '(ER at hospital)' response was as they work with life and death situations they do not get authorization for admissions.
'( ....before the crises is handled and the patient is stabilized, as the saving of lives is actually a priority at a ER instead of the chess game you will engage in, with Medihelp to get authorization through somebody that is unconscious and bedridden, and unable to do so !!!)'
