BEWARE OF MEDIHELP ‘s MRI WORDING..... IT IS NOT UNLIMITED!!

What does one do when looking to join a medical aid? You look at benefits not so, simple so I was happy that Medihelp pays for MRI ‘s in AND out of hospital AND it states unlimited except I would have a co-payment of R1550 so that’s what I would then prepare my budget for . My orthopedic surgeon referred me for one in Sept 2018 at SCP Vredenburg. They themselves ( not the surgeon) unbeknownst to me decided that I would need an mri with contrast. This entails an X-ray with monitor and injecting dye into your groin and it’s done after the mri. How on earth is a lay-person suppose to know that this part is NOT paid by Medihelp. It’s not my job to discuss different parts of procedures and I feel STRONGLY that I should have been told this BEFORE the scan and not AFTER. The bill totals R 1024.12. My issue is THIS: what does UNLIMITED mean to me in this regard? It means all I pay is a copayment of R1550 and that is made clear on joining. Medihelp should inform members that a mri with contrast isn’t paid for & if like most of us your savings is depleted then you will have to pay for it yourself. This is NON-DISCLOSURE and it should be addressed ASAP as it is a form of theft!
