Bonitas "Day to Day" Benefits for GP's and Specialist *******

<p>My wife and I are on the Bonitas "Standard Option" which is by far their most popular option. On this option for Main Member and Spouse,for" Day to Day" benefits one is allowed R5500 for GP benefits (network) and R7970 for all other "day to day" costs. This might seem reasonable BUT " specialists " costs are taken from the other day to day costs. This means that the R7970 has to be used for all medications, blood tests, x rays and specialist consultations. This amount is obviously used up very quickly. On the other hand using the "network" tariff of approx R338 the amount of R5500 equates to 16 visits to the GP per year. How many members visit their GP's 16 ( 2 people) per year. However this amount that is not used is just lost. I contacted Bonitas about this and they stated these are the rules and take it or lump it and to them there is no relationship between a specialist and a doctor. AND YET when they pay towards a specialist fees the amount that they pay is exactly the same as the tariff for a GP. How does a specialist fit with medication etc and not with GP benefits. This is a total "*******" as Bonitas know that most people wont use all their GP benefits but will run out of other "day to day ' benefits. People the only way we can get Bonitas to stop these *******s is to complain or take this matter up with the Medical Aid Council. Arnt you tired of being ********** all the time.
