Pathetic service - VW McCarthy Umhlanga

I have had extremely poor service from Umhlanga VW for the past 3 weeks now, to the point where I never want to own another VW.

In fact, once my car is repaired (If it is ever repaired, I will be selling it and never purchasing another VW again).

I own a golf 7 1.4 TSI DSG which broke down 3 weeks ago.

Statement of events:

1. The vehicle was towed to Umhlanga VW on a Saturday night while they were closed.

2. On that Monday morning I arrived at VW to let them know what issues I had experienced, to be told by the service advisor that they are extremely busy and would only be able to look at my car later that week.

3. 4 days later, they finally began working on my car, on that Thursday afternoon I was advised that they needed to load new software to see if the problem would be fixed.

4. The next update I had from VW was the following Monday, they advised that the software did not work and they had to strip the gearbox in order to log a claim with my mastercars extended warranty.

5. The car was only stripped 3 days later (Thursday) and then they began liaising with the IUA.

· During all of this I was told they do not have any courtesy vehicles and I was left without any vehicle

· I had also been calling VW up to 5 times a day, every time I called I was told my service advisor is busy and would call me back however I was very rarely receive a call back.

6. VW Umhlanga advised IUA that the gearbox could not be fixed and the quote for a new gearbox was R116k, IUA have now responded asking VW to send the car to a gearbox specialist to try and fix it.

7. The car is still at VW a week later as VW and IUA have been fighting about who pays for the gearbox oil and to reassemble to gearbox to send it to a specialist.

8. During all of this, I am immobile, paying for a car that cost R300k.

I keep getting told by VW that IUA are delaying however I purchased this extended warranty from VW, I do not care about IUA, from my perspective, my gearbox is covered in my warranty and this issue should be sorted out however I’ve just been getting a run around to the point where I do not want to own another VW, being a VW fan and owning 2 golfs and a polo prior to this.
