Pathetic service from McCarthy Toyota Edenvale
I have received absolutely atrocious service from McCArthy Toyota in Edenvale. Took my vehicle in for its first service since I bought it and asked them to check a faulty seatbelt which I was told about when I bought the car from the dealer principle of eThekwini Toyota in Durban. I also asked them to do wheel alignment and balancing and rotation. I don't often carry people in the back so didn't mind leaving the seatbelt until the next service to sort out. When I got the car back after its service I asked them if it was sorted out and they said yes. I was in a hurry to get to visa appointment so left and noticed when I was parking that the seatbelt was still broken. I also checked the invoices and no wheeI alignment had been done. I called them and to ask why they hadn't sorted it out despite it having been written on the job card and they had no response. They also confirmed that they hadn't done the alignment, balancing and rotation. All of this was omitted despite the fact that I had said that I dint need the car for a few a days so that they could take their time and do a good job. I told them that they would now have to fetch the vehicle from my residence which they did(withmore inconvenience to me as well as using my petrol). The service manager Johan then contacted me to say that they had ordered a new seatbelt and they needed one more day to fix the problem to which i agreed. When I got the car back, to my absolute shock, the subwoofer of my DEALER FITTED Rockford sound system was lying under the seat with the wires hacked off. The delivery man who was also my service consultant seemed to be confused as to why it was done just saying that the speaker was causing the problem. I told the service consultant to take the car back and call the dealer principle of eThekweni and sort out why he sold me the car with a defective sound system. When I called the dealership, a very dismissive Johan tells me that the speaker was causing the problem and since it was a "safety issue" he had the right to remove it without asking me or informing me of what he was going to do. He also said he didn't call Michael to even chat to him. So he didn't even bother to see if there were any alternatives to simply cutting my ****ing speaker out and leaving it on my backseat. to make matters worse I also paid for a "polish and shine" that was offered as part of the service which just left me with buffing marks all over my black car and undid a very expensive detailing I had done a few months ago. Their actions also showed that they had never checked the seatbelt in the first place as they had never mentioned any issue with the speaker until I got the car back with it hacked out. All in all an absolute **** show form a dealership that seems to believe that their customers don't matter. My bakkie is top of the range and cost half a million rand and this is the service that I'm supposed to tolerate. Heads should roll...
