November 2016 I bought a Golf 1.2 SV Trendline from McCarthy Volkswagen Arcadia. Upon collection of the vehicle we were informed that there is a mailfunction on one of the airbag sensors, but a new seat has been ordered from Germany and we'll be contacted once the seat is in S.A. and it will be fitted. So time goes by without any calls, and in the interim our car went for it's 1st service at Westvaal Lichtenburg. We again raised the issue regarding the seat, and they started investigating (or so they say).

After a few weeks we follow up again as we are not receiving any feedback whatsoever. We have to take the car in again so they can assess the problem (again)..which we did.

So once again we wait.....and wait.... We follow up again, this time making some noise...

Seeing that this was a manufacturing problem, surely Volkswagen was suppose to phone, and do everything in their power to fix the problem ????

But long story short - no new seat has arrived and after many enquiries we were advised our vehicle will be sent to Volkswagen Rustenburg (as Lichtenburg is not equipped to fix the problem) on the 6th of June. We advised them we can't be without a vehicle as we have commitments , and they undertook to provide us with a courtesy car. We took our veichle to the Lichtenburg dealership on the morning of the 6th of June, and were told they are "doing us a favour" by sending the car to Rustenburg and providing us with a courtesy car (a Polo Max - and unfortunately my husband is not one of the smallest people, and this is certainly not one of Volkswagen's most spacious vehicles). I feel this attitude is totally unacceptable from a dealer, and told him so.

On the 8th of June after many enquiries we were told the vehicle can only be sent to Rustenburg on the 13th of June, so we took back the courtesy car and collected our own vehicle.

On the morning of 13th June we took our car to the dealership, but was not given a courtesy car as arranged. The manager advised that the courtesy car will be delivered during the course of the day.

We have sinced called on the dealer to send their driver to collect our kids from school, take us on our rounds etc, because we were stranded.....at least Westvaal Volkswagen did provide us with a driver.

Upon phoning Rustenburg branch to enquire what the situation is, they could not confirm whether our vehicle was there, and we were told that they advised Westvaal Lichtenburg to have our vehicle at their offices by 07h00. (In the e-mail confirmation we received there was no time given, and the mail confirmed the vehicle is booked for the 13th, and thus we dropped off our vehicle only at about 07h40 in Lichtenburg (after attending to our kids)).

Rustenburg only confirmed at about 12h15 that they are in possession of our vehicle but can't confirm when someone will attend to it, and when the vehicle will be fixed and sent back to Lichtenburg.

It is now 14h15 and we still have no news, no courtesy car, nothing....

Is this what I am paying for....?
