The aircon of my VW Caddy became faulty and I took it to VW McCarthy Menlyn, Pretoria. They told me that the compressor had to be replaced but because it needed to be ordered I would have to come back the following week. After the compressor was replaced, I discovered that the aircon was not working as it should. When I called them they doubted my ability to use the aircon and only when I insisted they keep the car for as long as it takes for them to discover the fault did they agree and asked me to book it in for 2 days which I did. It took them the full 2 days to give me feedback that they themselves had over-filled the gas. No apologies for the inconvenience. Two weeks later the car lost power and we got stuck next to the N1. VW Roadside assist had to tow us in. Apparently the booster pipe had not been properly fastened when the aircon work was done, causing the vehicle to completely lose engine power. My husband lost 4 hours of worktime, not to mention the inconvenience of all this. I will never go back and want to know how McCarthy is going to reimburse us for lost work time.
