I went to McCathy Toyota Gezina on Tuesday 10 September 2019 to test drive the new Toyota Supra. Upon arrival, the reception was good and sales person by the name of Chris was called to come and assist. Supra was parked outside and I requested him to bring along the key to the car to which he went and pick it up.

When he came, I requested a test drive and he told me that he is not allowed to test drive me and I asked him why and he said it’s management instruction. I asked him to open the car to which he did and when inside I asked him to start the engine and he said he can’t and I asked him the reason and he said the car was expensive.

I felt belittled and told him that I have test driven more expensive cars than that and he said it was an instruction from the management. I requested to see the management and he said they are in a meeting

I told him to tell his management that people no longer buy cars but the service from the dealership.

Why did Toyota bring this car here if potential buyers can’t get the opportunity to compare it with other cars such as A45, M2, RS3, etc which I have test driven and I believe they are in the same category. I went to McCathy Toyota Sinoville and the salesperson by the name of Mpho Khalo assisted me.

I am currently in the market for one of the above cars thou I am still waiting for the new A45.
