During September this year, I decided to buy my wife an anniversary gift. Knowing exactly what she wanted more than anything, I decided the Polo7 GTI would be perfect. I concluded a deal with MaCarthy Audi Center Durban, after which the nightmare began. I have been in a constant battle with them since delivery.

*the car was advertised and invoiced at 18500km but was delivered to me over 21000km - Durban is 600 km away from jhb

*Upon delivery the car was missing 2 lock nuts, I had to request this many times before I was ask to collect it from over 50 kms away from me

*When trying to fit on the new lock nuts, I notice that the key for the 2 lock nuts on the car , has not been given to me. We had to arrange to a tech, to remove the two lock nuts.

*the car had a vibration on the steering wheel, which I was told, was caused by the balancing. The was done at Mintys Sandton. Needless to say, the vibration persisted. I escalated the matter to his manager.

*While the vibration was a consern, the even more pressing matter was the temporary permit which had expired. At this stage, I was promised my number plates which never happend as well as requested a new permit. My wife was eventually pulled over , the cop treathened to impound the car, by this time my wife was in tears( NB: so called gift)the cop felt sorry for her n gave her a break. This is when the manager got involved, he organised a new temp permit at a closer dealer

*the car was sent to VW Woodmead for inspection of the car, this was at my cost. I was told that there was pot hole damaged to the car. N that the rim was buckeled. The manager took 2 weeks to source a rim repair shop in Jhb, after numerous e mails hounding the dealer. The rim is finally repaired n thus far the vibration has decreased but not gone altogether.

*but there's more a few days after the rim repair, the salesman says that the ID copy I sent him is not clear n he needs a new one for my number plates. I send it to him. A few days after that, he contacts my wife, and advises that the COR for the car has expired n he would send someone to take the car for COR and bring it back( I'm not sure where my car went before it was delivered to me, due to the difference in milage, or if the car went over a pot hole on that trip). I was not giving the car to anyone. I could not understand why I was not contacted instead of my wife, but then I relasied that they wanted to deal with her, as she would be easier to deal with. Still very unprofessional as I was the customer. Anyway COR was done and finally the plates arrived on the 18th Nov 2016. After much effort in terms of hounding the dealer .

I still have no feedback regarding my air box which I was promised, the fact that VW said that the car incurred pot hole damage is a concern. As you can imagine, the ****ed the impact of my kind hearted gift to my lovely wife. I will never refer anyone to such a dealer and as much as the paid for everything apart from the inspection at VW, I would imagine that such a reputable dealer would conduct a full inspection before delivery. Well at least they say that they do. I think that falling under Bidvest maybe drives numbers rather than quality !
