BRAND new Hilux requires open heart surgery.
Two weeks ago I purchased the most beautiful bakkie. A bakkie I had been dreaming about for many years. The bakkie in question? A BRAND NEW Toyota Hilux, of course! Immediately after purchasing, I noticed the coolant was low, so i sent an email to the dealer and had to return the bakkie the following day for a coolant topup.

The following day I noticed the coolant was still low, and was assured by the service manager that it's quite normal. I returned the bakkie to have the coolant topped up and was even given additional coolant to topup if needed. At this stage my bakkie had a grand total of 100km on the clock.

This morning (with just over 1000km) on my way back from town, the heat gauge suddenly started to climb, and there was pink fluid running from my dashboard onto and into the carpets. I immediately pulled into the first Toyota garage I could find - Imperial Toyota Cape Gate.

The fix entails dismantling the ENTIRE DASHBOARD and stripping the vehicle down to bare metal. My bakkie will NEVER be the same again, and I refuse to settle for a repair. Toyota need to replace my vehicle as I refuse to settle for a second hand vehicle, when I paid half a million rand for a new one.
