Bought a faulty car by Toyota and they are not willing to help
I made contact with them on the 1st September 2025 the morning 9AM about show interest in purchasing an used car ( FORD FIESTA ST 1.6 ECOBOOST GDTi 2013 – 2022 ) from Bidvest McCarthy Toyota TableView
A salesman made contact with me regarding the enquiry about the used FORD FIESTA ST 1.6 ECOBOOST GDTi 2013 – 2022
We spoke about the car and he was so eager to sell me the car that he wanted to drive all the way from the dealership with the car to Franschhoek where I work
I said no it is not necessary for him to bring the car since I did not want to put any more kilometers on the car, the car already had 124759 kms
Then he said that he is reputable and always put his clients first and always make sure that the cars they sell is up to standard, which I took his word for,
I said that I would take the car and immediately he started the processing of the car and I filled in the all the documents – this was on the 3rd September 2025 the Wednesday
I told him that would like to make my final decision on Saturday when I come get the car and just want to check the car out and he said that he will not be able to hand over the car to personally since he will not be there, which I found is strange since I am a client, his client and made the deal with him
I then did and completed all the necessary paper work
Saturday, 6th September 2025 morning 9 AM I was to pick up my car since everything is finalized before hand already
His colleague did the hand over of the car on his behalf, I checked the car out the engine looked clean and turned over the engine and it sounded fine
I took the car and I am off with my new used FORD FIESTA ST 1.6 ECOBOOST GDTi 2013 – 2022
The Monday 8th September 2025 I got in the car the morning for work I turned over the engine of the car and cars engine made a tap sound almost like it very cold which it could be but when I drive it makes tap/clicking noise and I believe that these cars do not have tappets or it has stems,
I then proceed to contact the salesman who I purchased the car from explaining to him the sound I hear coming from the engine and I am concerned and he said that it might be because the car is cold but these newer cars should not be making this sound, I also told him that the oil should be heating up relative quickly to even out this
He then said I should monitor the problem, which I did and contact him in weeks time again tell him that the car still makes the same problem which he just disregarded and never really said okay bring the car in and let us check the engine
I also picked up that my fog lamps back and front does not work and i check the fuses and my right back nut lock for my wheel was missing as well and I only check found when I checked my tired pressure after a month this upset me greatly and reported this to him and then said I need to make arrangements to bring in the car but I cant just cause I need to use the car for work
I then contact him to ask him if I can bring in the car and he never responded, so i decided I would get the car once i have the time and capital
On the 4th June 2026 my cars headgasket blew and I tried to contact him explain to him the situation he did manage to help me with my warranty policy number, I then got the car towed to Noval FORD Paarl ( where my car is currently at ) but Noval FORD Paarl quoted me a ridiculous amount just for stripping the engine and doing further inspection to see if there is other damage R12184.25 and this does not include anything else, so I contacted the salesman from which I purchased the car to find out if I can bring the car to them from to fix the car since I bought the car by them and he then said that they can’t work on my since they are Toyota but I bought the car by them and this where it stands currently
