Bidvest McCarthy VW Arcadia
On 27th April 2018, I purchased a vehicle from VW Arcadia from a Mr. Ian Van Niekerk. I drove the car home to Newcastle on Saturday of 28th April 2018 and I returned on the 30th of April 2018. Upon my return from Newcastle, between Vrede and Frankfurt whilst attempting to overtake a truck, the car failed and was no longer in motion. I do not know how I was spared from the trauma that could have happed in that moment. The vehicle had apparently had a clutch burn. When I got to the VW in Heidelberg I struggled to get assistance with the car and I could not get information on what was wrong with the car except that I was told that the clutch had been burnt, upon hearing that I contacted Mr. Van Niekerk who still could not assist me for reasons not known to me. He then gave the phone to the Sale Manager, Mr. Chris who started shouting at me, telling me they will not be taking fault for my reckless driving. Which really startled me as I have never met this gentleman Mr. Chris and for him to insinuate that I am a reckless driver is an infringement to my constitutional right to being treated fairly and with dignity at all times. On the 2nd of May 2018, I than contacted the dealer principle Mr Stephan Delport who also could not come to my assistance, I ended up asking why you are shouting at me. I still do not know the reason why he was shouting, but I found that rude especially since I was a customer coming with a complaint about a vehicle I had just purchased. He went on to say that if the problem with the vehicle was my fault the dealer will not be held liable for transporting it back to VW Arcadia from Heidelberg. I then went on to contact VW South Africa to lay a complaint on how I have been treated by the sales person, Mr Ian Van Niekerk, the sales manager Mr Chris and the dealer principle Mr Stephan Delport. A case was lodged with the reference ********** 88. On the 3rd of May 2018, I received a call from Mr Christ of Heidelberg to give me feedback regarding the car after he had opened it, only to discover that the problem with the car was not my fault. He further went to inform me that I will not be liable for the costs but they will remain costs to VW. Fast forward the car came back and I was told I will not have a problem with it. On the 14th of February 2019, a very rainy day in Pretoria the car fails to start. I am assisted by a VW Technician who tells me that the engine is messed up and the water and oil are mixing up. Okay cool, they manage to take me home and I am again assisted by VW on the line. Everything is fine until I had to go to the dealer in Arcadia, again I had to be subjected to the harsh and rude treatment of Mr. Ian Van Niekerk who did not even acknowledge my presence in the room, I greeted him and he did not even look me in the eye, he did not bother to respond but just looked straight to the Technician guy, he was also shocked as to why the Sales Person would be so disrespectful. He disregarded everything I said to him, spoke on top of his voice and was not bothered to listen to a word that I said. I eventually decided that I will not leave my car at Arcadia dealership because of the treatment I keep getting from Mr. Ian Van Niekerk. What is sad is this is not the first time that this is happening but the second time and this is a brand new car that I bought without any millage nothing, the treatment that I have received from VW Arcadia has been the most dehumanizing, most disrespectful treatment any person could receive. I am very disappointed I am besides myself. I do not understand why I am treated like this as a customer and this being a brand new vehicle and VW failing to take responsibility that this is a factory fault. I would NEVER advice anyone to buy a VW from VW Arcadia even worse buy it from Mr. Ian Van Niekerk, he has given me the worst treatment any buyer could ever experience, I have been subjected to his disrespectful treatment from the time I bought this car up until now.
