Bidvest McCarthy Toyota Arcadia - Ridiculous service
Dear potential Bidvest McCarthy Toyota Arcadia Client, I recently bought a Fortuner at the dealership and I feel it is my responsibility to inform you about my experience. The sales person was Khutso Pohotona. I am from Cape Town and they gave me a good deal on my trade in, but that was where it stopped. Once they sign the deal there is no after services and they don’t keep to their promises. I was very skeptical on buying from a dealership that I haven’t visited myself but I insisted that they deliver the Fortuner at the McCarty N1 dealership in Cape Town in the presence of a sales person at the N1 dealership. When they delivered the Fortuner on 16 March 2019 at the dealership, they had no knowledge of the deal. The driver did the hand over and couldn’t even give me copies of the signed papers. The dealership also didn’t want to assist in doing copies (obviously, because they weren’t aware of this transaction). Khutso promised me a full tank of diesel as part of the deal. At handover the Fortuner was totally empty. I went with the driver (and his friends - probably for a joyride) to the nearest filling station to fill the tank as promised. At the filling station the driver informed me that he doesn’t have enough money to fill the tank. I contacted Khutso and he told me that he will arrange a slip at the N1 dealership and they will refund me for the full tank – this obviously never happened. I got the DP, Vincent Ramalebane, involved without any success. Their argument is that they did fill the tank (but it was in Pretoria and I am in Cape Town). How does that make sense?? If took me more than a month to get my trade in off my name and number plates for the Fortuner. I had to organize everything myself in Cape Town and had minimal assistance from Khutso or Vincent. They kept on ignoring my calls and WhatsApp’s. I also had to fight for the repayment of the number plates which was part of the finance but I had to pay for it. The driver also got a fine on his way to Cape Town and I reported it to Khutso and Vincent. Until today I haven’t had proof that they settled the fine and it is reflecting on my name. Vincent’s manager, Thabo Moima, got involved and promised me that he will come back to me, but to date I haven’t had and call or feedback from him. If you can’t even rely on Top Management, what can you expect from the salesman & DP… Please also be careful when buying a second hand car. Don’t think that the price you see on the floor is the price that you will pay. On the floor the Fortuner had Smash and Grab on already but they added it to the deal as an extra…totally ridiculous! It has been two months now since I bought the Fortuner and I am still struggling to close the deal. I will never recommend Bidvest McCarthy Toyota Arcadia, and if you do decide to do a deal with them, make sure that you get everything promised first, before you sign. Pathetic!
