Bidvest McCarthy Chevrolet - No Service
Here is a short description of service received over a 2 & 1/2 year period from Bidvest McCarthy GM Menlyn: May 2016: Chev Ute was taken in for a service and rattle in dash. Service done but rattle not fixed.
May 2017: Chev Ute was taken in for service and same rattle in dash. Same service adviser of 2016, phones me after the vehicle slept over to fix the rattle, to tell me the rattle could not be fixed yet. After a debate, miraculously the rattle is fixed after an hour and the vehicle can be fetched. Amy Meyer, promises me that the service manager will contact me regarding the bad service: no call was received.
July 2017: Chev Ute uses oil excessively and is reported to Bidvest McCarthy GM Menlyn in which Amy Meyer takes the vehicle from me for evaluation and I receive a call back from Amy Meyer that one piston's pressure is not according to standard and the vehicle will need to be taken in and the engine will need work done and will take approximately 2 weeks.
17 Aug 2017: I phone Amy Meyer after 3 weeks and she tells me that nothing has been done on my vehicle. Amy Meyer then accuses a service adviser, Annemarie, of the issue and that she is being dealt with. Later the same afternoon I get a call from Amy to inform me that nothing was done for 3 weeks and that I need to take my vehicle back and drive it for 1 000 km with a sealed engine to establish oil consumption. Obviously that is not acceptable and I tell Amy Meyer that "she needs to pull something out of a hat".
24 Aug 2017: I phone Amy Meyer to be told that Bidvest McCarthy GM Menlyn is driving my vehicle around to get to 1 000 km. This is after they had my vehicle for 4 weeks. Obviously I did not give consent to Bidvest McCarthy GM Menlyn for driving my vehicle around and Amy Meyer tells me that this is what she interpreted "she needs to pull something out of a hat" as correct.
Never in my life have I heard that a dealership keeps your vehicle for 3 weeks only to be told that nothing has been done and I should take my vehicle back and drive it for 1 000 km to establish oil consumption, if a wet and dry compression test has been done on the vehicle, according to Amy Meyer. What happens if my vehicle breaks down next to the road?
I find Amy Meyer's attitude and behavior unacceptable, even more as a representative of Bidvest McCarthy GM Menlyn, and do not agree with the turn of events. I was advised by Amy Meyer to bring my vehicle in for repairs, booked in by herself only to given the run around 4 weeks later and to be told to rather fetch my vehicle.
