Appalling results from VW Mcarthy Constantia Kloof

We recently took our car into Bidvest Mcarthy VW Constantia Kloof. The car was overheating and after running the diagnostic report we were told that the water pump needs to be changed. We agreed to the repair, later on the day we received an update saying that the battery needs to be changed which we then declined.

After the water pump change the technician test drove the car and we were then informed that the top gasket is damaged therefore causing the car to smoke from the exhaust pipe. Should his not have been discovered at the point if the diagnostic when we were initially quoted for the water pump.

We paid the cost and now the car is still overheating, we received the acr back 2 days ago and have not driven it since. We were told by the consultant that diagnositc results are not printed, but after calling VW Rivonia the technician there confrimed that the results should have been on the quote.

The consultant gave us good service but i'm appaled at the fact that we paid a cost to a car that is not fixed. surely there has to be a papertrail for whatever tests were ran to see what the problem with the car actually is.
