Worst Service Ever!!! Run, run, run!!!
Please don't ever even consider taking your vehicle to this company. Run, Run, Run!!!! Which is what you may have to do when you book your vehicle in with Mayfair Gearbox Nationwide - Selby Branch.
My vehicle was booked in towards the end of April 2022 for a gearbox selection problem. This request was handled by Tyron Knott Service Advisor for Mayfair Gearbox Selby Branch, after their initial inspection I was quoted for a new TCM (Transmission Control Module) as per thier inspection the unit on the vehicle was blown and needed to be replaced. Go ahead was given and the TCM unit was replaced. By the 13th May 2022, invoice was paid and car was collected about a day after. It was explained to me that in this normal condition of the TCM being replaced it is advised that the clutch be replaced as well. We argreed that the clutch would be tested with the new TCM and see if it functions correctly.
Which it did for about 4 months, and the vehicle started showing signs of the clutch possibly going faulty. During this time the was some other repairs done to the vehicle, shocks, shock mountings, CV joint, engine mountings to eliminate the constant noise that was indicated when the test was done by Mayfair Gearbox. As the vehicle was still at another repairer for the CV joint, vehicle was loaded onto a trailer and delivered straight to Mayfair Gearbox from their promises.
Vehicle was booked relatively on the 12th of September 2022 in with Kagiso for a replacement clutch kit.
26th of September 2022 it was communicated to me that the flywheel and clutch was finished and that the clutch box should be going into the car.
4th of October 2022 it was communicated that they do not have a breather pipe in stock and they are waiting for a new breather pipe and the box will be fitted.
5th - breather pipe fitted
10th - they advised me that the metatronic unit is not working and does not want to do clutch adaptions and must be replaced.
12th - They are done with the adaptions and testing the car out.
16th - Velve body needs to be replaced
18th - Velve body replaced, car passed test.
19th - Car inline for QC
20th - Car collected. Front window cracked. As I did not deliver my vehicle personally, I requested that, Mayfair sent me the reference pic as to show that my vehicle was delivered that way. A pic that is impossible for them to find until this time. As I got on the highway, I again heard a very bad grinding noise, and reported it back to Kagiso. When I got home, I quickly checked to see if I could find the problem, and found one of the gearbox bolts very loose, and tightend it to prevent any possible damage. Please note that this is after a QC that was done before I could take delivery of the vehicle. Noise issue resolved.
4th November 2022 - Gearbox oil pouring out of the vehicle gearbox. Take it back to Mayfair gearbox. Accourding to their Workshop manager, it must be a internal seal, they'll be able to repair in relatively 3-4 working days. On my inspection with Tyron and the workshop manager, Notice that the bottom new bottom engine mounting bushing is completely damaged and query this with them as well. Still being give the run around on if the mounitng or bush will be replaced for damage. I requested CQ documents that still has not been produced to me. Vehicle booked in by Tyron.
14th November 2022 - I give Tyron a follow-up call. Tyron has no idea as to which vehicle I'm refering too. After a long explination of which vehicle I'm referring, I'm handed over to Kagiso that gives me a call back and states that the battery was flat on the vehicle, and he is now following up on the progress of repairs as he was not at work. I decided to take a drive to Mayfair and inspect for myself what the progress is, on my way there I receive a call that the vehicle is finished and that I'd be able to collect my vehicle. I get a follow up call a little later that states that the vehicle has to still go through QC and we can only collect the folowing day.
24th - Kagiso follow up message to me "Busy piecing together all the paperwork and gonna a sit down with tyron with feedback on the mountings and window I still need the workshop Manager to fill in the test in and test out sheets",
28th - "Morning Quinton my workshop Manager said he should be done with the car testing and documents today we just had a backlog"
29th - I ask the question when of the timeframe of when my car will be done? Answer "I'm looking at sometime this week", "It's completed sir we just need to test out and QC now"
I find it unexceptable that it takes Mayfair collectively 3 months to complete work assigned to the them and paid in full to complete in a reasonable timeframe, and completed whe works to NOT the Motor industy standards and i'm still without any of my own transport.
I will refering this matter to RMI and the ombutsman.
