Failed Repairs Cost Me My Vehicle – Do Not Trust This Company!

I took my vehicle to Mayfair Gearbox in October/November 2025 to diagnose a faulty gearbox. They quoted me on one of their refurbished units as a solution as they stated that the torque converter failed.

Since then up until end of May 2026 the vehicle was still defective after multiple repair attempts and unit replacements.

Vehicle had 5 failures and 4 seperate repair attempts were made where the vehicle's gearbox started to show signs of failure within 1000kms. Everytime I was assured that vehicle was repaired correctly only to have it fail afterwards.

When I saw that it would be an endless back and forth untill the warranty lapsed, I opted to reject further repair attempts and requested a refund. Their response was to continue with attempts involving 3rd party assistance which prove they lack the technical capability to repair my vehicle yet invoiced me for a repair that was not the solution.

To this day they cannot give clear indication of what caused the failures. They tried to use non-oem software on the vehicle as a scapegoat but after they removed the software and loaded the OEM software the vehicle failed again.

This company did not have the technical competence to diagnose and repair my vehicle. The continued failures led to major distrust in the reliability of my own vehicle and their ability to repair it successfully to the point where I could have peace of mind beyond their warranty period.

They have opted not to refund me and I have subsequently sold my vehicle as the only logical end to this ordeal.

My vehicle was paid off and had a full list of overlanding extras that I had to forfeit and settle for a more reliable vehicle.

I would not recommend this company if you value your money, your vehicle, and your peace of mind, take your business elsewhere.
