atrocius service at mayfair gearbox selby branch
Had a nightmare at mayfair gearbox selby branch, send in my jeep for an auto transmission problem on the 27th of sept..got no feedback watsoever for the next month except when i called to do a follow up at least once a week, anyway to cut the long story short, the vehicle underwent 3 failed test drives (with the same radiator )during the course of the month which is all fine and understandable by me...problem is in the 5th week all of a sudden i get a quote to replace the radiator via watsapp and no explanation..(all of a sudden the radiator is loosing water so bad they need to replace it) I decided to drive there to find out whats going on and when i got there the servic advisor tells me they will assemble the box that day and the manager tells me the box is already finished so dont even know who to believe..in the meantime they already st********** my radiator without my authorisation and the radiator have structural damage on the top and bottom frames but when the vehicle went in there was nothing wrong with it but they telling me its because of lack of anti freeze.(by the way that wont break radiator frame in half) told the manager and his seniour not to patronize me as i also run a workshop and he threated me with unspecified action for pointing at him,,,even came and stood chest to chest with me to intimidate me ..i urge everyone desling with these guys to be extra cautious because they will do anything to upsell and milk more money out of you.bunch of skelems
- We verify that your vehicle was towed to Mayfair Gearbox (not driven) on the initial test in before the transmission was overhauled, therefore we cannot confirm the operation of the vehicle.
- We can confirm that the radiator has not been damaged in an way, by way of impact or workmanship from Mayfair Gearbox.
- The radiator began leaking with evidence of coolant leaking from the LHS of the vehicle very soon after the vehicle left the Mayfair Gearbox premises on test out.
- The vehicle was not very far and was brought back to the Mayfair Gearbox premises.
- On inspection back at the workshop, it was confirmed that the radiator has developed a leak from the core as well as the left radiator plastic tank.
- The radiator was removed to see what was happening and on confirmation from a radiator specialist that the radiator is aged and as such was unrepairable, you were then quoted an amount for the replacement.
- Mayfair Gearbox removed the radiator as we could not test the vehicle for the transmission repair and required the coolant leak to be repaired to complete the repair and get the vehicle tested.
- On Friday, 10th November you arrived at Mayfair Gearbox Selby division accusing Mayfair Gearbox of damaging your radiator even before inspecting the vehicle, indicating that the radiator was not leaking before the vehicle came here.
- The radiator was removed from the vehicle and when Mr. Maharaj showed you exactly where the leak on the radiator was from, you then claimed that the radiator was not from your vehicle.
- Mr. Maharaj then proceeded to take you to your vehicle to show you that the radiator was removed from your vehicle.
- Mr. Maharaj pointed out to you that the vehicle was towed to Mayfair Gearbox, not driven in, therefore the condition of the radiator could not be confirmed from previously.
- Mr. Maharaj advised you that in the process of removing and refitting of the transmission, the Mayfair Gearbox technicians did not perform work anywhere in the area of the radiator, to damage the radiator, as claimed.
- Mr. Maharaj also advised you that the cooling system on the vehicle was in an atrocious condition to start with, as the cooling system was corroded with rust. There was evidence of leaks in more than 2 -3 places (with rust mark stained on the outside components in the area of the leaks).
- The coolant header tank also had evidence of heavy rust staining from no coolant which ultimately affects the performance of the cooling system and the serviceable life of the cooling system component, such as the radiator.
- Mr. Maharaj explained to you that the radiator was very possibly not a genuine Jeep component, indicating a possible aftermarket product.
- The LHS plastic tank had evidence of a visible highline crack from a pressure build and the radiator core tubes were bloated and swollen on more than 4- 5 cores, indicating that the coolant was not flowing through them due to restrictions, possible corrosion restrictions.
- Inspection of the radiator with yourself on site did not reveal any impact or workmanship damage or any holes/piercing.
- As previously mentioned, the cooling system was not in accordance with a function able state or manufacturer specification, which has affected the operation and durability of the cooling system on your vehicle.
- Mr. Maharaj recommended that you explore the option of taking your radiator for an independent opinion to confirm that there was no damage to the radiator that had caused the leak.
