Overcharge on laptop battery and poor product knowledge

<p>On the 24th of August 2016 I visited the Matrix Warehouse branch in Ilanga Mall in Nelspruit. I needed a replacement battery for my laptop. Before the shop assistant (Sifiso) knew the exact make and model of my laptop and battery, he already quoted me for a new battery, at R1300.</p> <p>The battery that arrived two days later was the wrong battery and had to be sent back. I waited another week for the next battery that was also the wrong one. The third or fourth (not sure) battery came this week ( I received it on the 27th of September) and finally it is correct.</p> <p>Apart from waiting a long time for the correct battery, my main query is about the price of the replacement battery. The battery is not an original, but a replacement and I was quoted before the shop assistant knew the exact make and model of my laptop. How can it be that they have one price for all laptop batteries when different manufacturers from different countries make laptop batteries?</p> <p>Furthermore, I saw the invoice from the supplier, which is Laptop Solutions in JHB. The invoice states the amount of R460 to be paid by Matrix Warehouse. How is it that I pay R1300 for the battery while Matrix only pays R460. Since Matrix changed suppliers during this month long period, they could not know from the beginning how much they were going to pay for the battery which they sold to me for R1300. They made a profit of almost 200%. I realize they have courier costs to cover, but the battery was couriered on normal courier days.</p> <p>Is it standard practice for Matrix Warehouse to make such a big profit when ordering from an external supplier? Can this be considered fair trade?</p>
