Matrix Warehouse Lenasia, Refund refusal for defective 1 month old item.
On the 30/03/2019 I purchased a wireless keyboard/mouse for an android TV Box from the Lenasia branch. The item was defective out of the box. The USB receiver ****le was not working. I had to drive all the way back to the store the next morning to return it. They did not have a replacement in stock. I had to wait a week before i received a call saying I could collect another unit. My wife went to the store to collect as I was at work. About a week ago the touchpad became unresponsive and does not work. This past Saturday (11/05/2019) I visited the store to get a refund as i have lost faith in this product and it's quite clear that its useless. The shop assistant and manager told me that they cannot refund me due to some damage at the top. I told the manager i received it like that when i collected it the 2nd time. He said i should have contacted them and returned it. He is correct, but to me, the unit was working and every time i have to go to the store i spend R60 on fuel. I have already paid R350 for the unit and R120 on fuel so far so im not going back and the unit seems to be working fine. Not only did i receive it in that manner, but the box somehow now had 2 user manuals. One for the remote and one for a TV Box (Huh!?!), and the price tag was peeled off. There was plenty to complain about but I did not as the unit was working fine. So this past Saturday I spent R60 on fuel(R180 on fuel so far), drove to the store only to find it closed, the sign on the door said open at 13:30. I do not have an issue so i waited. Store opened at 13:40 with quite a few customers standing outside and waiting. Asked for a refund and got told no. I said to the manager/owner that i do not want to stand and argue with him. By his automated refund refusal responses i could tell he had not intention on refunding me. So i did not want to waste my time with him and risk the situation escalating in to an argument. Myself and him were both fasting as it is our fasting month, so i just left the store. All i want is my money back for what clearly is a useless product. I will have to spend another R60 on fuel which will take my fuel spend to R240 back and forth for this useless item. Please consider this and i would appreciate a compensation. Also consider that this item worked for only a month. Also keep in mind that i take very good care of my electronics, I have every PS console in mint working condition and a PC that I bought in 2005 that i still use, and a PC i bought from Matrix in 2010 that i still use. So I will refuse outright if I am painted with a brush of carelessness and be accused of breaking the item.
The product you brought back has got physical damage on it and therefore the warranty is voided. The day your wife collected the item, the staff in store showed her that the unit was working 100% and there was no damage to it at that time. We don't mind assisting and will gladly assist with any warranty claim as long as there is no damage to the unit. The supplier wont even book it in on their side if there is any physical damage to the unit. We do apologize that we couldn't meet your expectation's this time and for any inconvenience caused.
