Matrix Warehouse Computers - Pantum 2200 Advert deceiving
On the 15th of March 2022, I ordered a Pantum 2200 Laser Printer, online from Matrix Warehouse for R499. I collected it the following day in Bellville, Cape town
The printer was donated to a poor person living in Mannenberg to kickstart a very small printing services business.
The specification of the printer read that it comes with a cartridge to last for 1,000 pages.
On the 18th of June 2022, the poor person informed me that the cartridge ran out of ink at about 200 or fewer pages.
I called the head office immediately and the reception said that the person called Marshall, a director, who deals with such issues will only be in on Monday and that she will pass on the message. She tried to explain, that the printer may have come with a 'starter' cartridge.
On Monday, I had no call from Marshall and I later called again to enquire when Marshall will be called. She said she did say him an email, but she will send him another email.
The same process as above for Tuesday and Wednesday.
On Wednesday afternoon at about 15:40, I received a call from Marshall, giving the same 'starter' cartridge reason stating that it only prints between 200 and 400 pages. I was feeling very disgusted with that responses since the advert said 1,000 pages, which seems extremely deceiving.
He offered for the manufacturer to look at how many pages were printed and could refund the cartridge and left ME to come up with OTHER alternatives.
The above was not sufficient for me, so I decline that, because the poor person who stays very far from Bellville, has to drop off the cartridge and then collect it again, which is pretty pricy and may not even yield a satisfactory result.
Now, the person is not able to afford a new cartridge that goes for about R950.
After pondering the situation, I decided to call back to present the following alternatives:
(1) Matrix Warehouse of Bellville collects the cartridge from me at my address.
(2) The manufacturer compares it to 1000 pages as advertised before or 700 pages as currently advertised
(3) I write a HelloPeter review to convey our conversations
The printer will be collected tomorfrow, so I'll await his results and will revert.
As per our previous telephonic conversation: The printer comes with a starter toner cartridge that is advertised by the manufacturer to print 700 pages. See manufacturers website link: https://old.pantum.com/global/series/p2200/ and our website link: https://matrixwarehouse.co.za/product/pantum-p2200-laser-printer/ . The page yield is calculated on an industry standard of 5% page coverage. As per your request, we returned the toner cartridge to the Cape Town offices of the supplier at our costs for a full assessment.
They have tested the toner cartridge and have found the following:
- Remaining Amount of Toner: 2%
- Actual Pages printed: 331 A4 pages
- Average Coverage: 11%
The cartridge and the supplier test results are ready for collection at our Bellville branch.
Thank you
