Laptop unuseable

Hi, I took my HP pavilion 17 laptop in for an upgrade. Replaced the Ram and put a new Ssd. While he was testing if the ram picked up he put it on its side and it started making a loud fan noise. He said it's normal because it's not flat and once it's flat it will be fine. He sealed it up and I went home to install the software and the noise was unbearably loud. I took it back and he said that the cooling gel was old so I bought a new one and let him clean the old one and put the new one. He said don't use it for a few hours let it cool down then it should be fine. I tried it 8 hours later and it still making a loud noise and the screen doesn't even come on. Also I have knife marks all over my casing from when he opened it. The workmanship is pathetic and now my laptop is unuseable! This was at Matrix Melville and I have the receipts etc of purchase from 2019/06/22

 Hi Shamil

See below response received from the store in question.

The customer was a walk-in client who wanted his notebook upgraded with an SSD and additional memory only and was attended to immediately.  ·         The client was advised that in order to fit the memory and SSD the notebook had to be disassembled to which the client responded that he knows because he had previously opened the notebook himself to fit memory and to clean out the fan because it was clogged with dust, the technician then proceeded with the upgrade, The client also advised that he would load his own O/S software.  After re-assembly, the notebook was switched on with no fan noise at this stage and the display on the screen requested boot media cd, obviously because there was no O/S loaded.   ·         The client returned later in the day indicating that he had loaded the O/S but that his fan was noisy. The technician also observed and indicated to the client that the notebook was quite hot and the client advised that it would be because he spent a few hours loading the O/S, the fan was obviously faulty resulting in the overheating.  The technician was requested to check the fan which he did and found that the CPU paste was dry and advised the client to reapply new paste to the CPU cooler and the client then purchased CPU paste and Kaspersky. The technician proceeded to apply the new paste and reassembled the notebook. After assembly the fan was still noisy on boot-up, however the display was normal. All this work was done with no charge to the client and the client left.  Conclusion: 1.       This notebook was brought in for an upgrade only (Memory and SSD). 2.       Initially there was no mention to the technician of a noisy or faulty fan. 3.       The technician had first booted up the system to check if the ram was picking up with the old HDD fitted and the fan operated normally. 4.       The client had previously opened the notebook himself to fit memory and to clean out the fan because it was clogged with dust, his own admission. 5.       We upgrade and repair dozens of notebooks and the utmost care is taken when opening up a notebook to assess, so the knife marks could only have been caused by the client himself. 6.       The fan was obviously a problem from the beginning, but, only the client was aware of this.
