laptop came back with broken battery
I sent my laptop in that had a crack in the screen . I asked the technicians to assess the laptop and give me a quote as I will be sending it to the insurance as my laptop was covered . They responded that the laptop screen needed to be replaced . I gave go ahead and it was done. I went to fetch it. I wanted to see if they had done as I had asked but the laptop did not go on . They used their own chargers so mine was at home . I assumed the battery was flat and plugged it in at home, only to see that the battery does not work or pick up any more. As soon as you plug out the charger cable the laptop goes off as if there is no battery at all. They now want to charge me close to R 1000 for further repairs . This after they released it to me from the shop original . Surely they would have picked it up either with the initial assessment or just before they handed it over. I believe they must have tampered with my working battery just to make an extra buck. Please be warned when you send in your items at matrix. Make sure they know what is working and not working . And record it if you can for your own assurance .
The work quoted and paid for was performed satisfactory and all in perfect working order. Our technicians used a original Dell charger to test the unit after the screen replacement as the battery was flat. This unit wasn't tested for any battery errors at the time of the assessment or for any other errors as the task was clear that we needed to perform a screen replacement. You didn't fetch the unit but sent someone else to collect and we showed him that the unit was fully functional.
When we quoted you on a replacement battery you argued that it should be only around R500-00 and this leads me to believe that you knew about the issue and obtained other quotes already.
We have not damaged your battery and cannot accept liability for a problem that clearly existed before it was brought to us.
