False advertising and against the consumer act
A couple of weeks ago I ordered an Laptop from Matrix Online. The description clearly said that it had an 8gig ram. After I received my laptop I found out that this laptop only has 4gigs of ram. Luckily I still had the pdf I created from the add. I phoned them yesterday and I was informed that the 8gigs just indicates how much ram the computer can take. I said to them that this is misleading since it nowhere indicates that thisis the amount it can upgrade to. After a screaming session, the person told me that he would speak to his manager. The same person phoned me this morning saying that it was a typo. <br> Here follows the exact description of the laptop:<br> <br> Product Description:(cut the rest to save on characters)<br> 8GB DDR3L Memory<br> <br> I chose this laptop based on the fact that it had 8 gigs of ram. We apologize for your confusion in this regard, The advert clearly advertises in bold writing what the specifications are that the laptop is supp**** with. This is prominent and as a heading for the laptop. Below the bold writing and in a much smaller print is the specification that the laptop is capable of supporting. This is not false advertising, misleading or deceptive as the laptop will indeed support up to 8 GB's. It is not supp**** with 8 GB's but is definitely capable of supporting it, nothing deceptive about that. There is no confusion as the heading boldly and much more prominently advertises what the laptop is supp**** with. Matrix Warehouse will discount the extra 4 GB memory as per email sent to you. Alternatively, Matrix Warehouse will gladly refund you for the laptop within our refund policies and terms.
