You get what you pay for

I suppose you get what you pay for in life. Master Movers was the best quote but at themed of the move and things missing and broken has generated more expense than the saving by going with them in the first place. It’s pointless to list everything either broken or simply missing so I’ll name just a couple.

We thought the packing team in Joburg were very good and praised them and tipped them well. The team that delivered we also tipped but the delivery itself was absolutely chaotic. They were extremely late and in such a rush it was like a home invasion. I am not exaggerating. Stuff has gone missing.

To name just two of the numerous problems is the loss of the feet for an expensive Nad Master Series amplifier - cost to replace R6000 - and the Miele washing machine that had been so roughly without and due care dragged across a floor somewhere that both feet on the left hand side were **********. Repair costs R2500. There are a couple of things missing which is strange given what they are. Listing everything and taking photos of what’s broken and putting in a claim that would come to somewhere around R15k is pointless as my premiums will simply go up and I’ll end up paying for them anyway.

Be careful of going with the cheapest quote as you get way you pay for. I already knew this from decades of experience but as close friends had recommended them I went against my better judgement.

Just to emphasize the delivery to our home in Cape Town was mind numbingly rushed and chaotic. This shows poor project assignment. The team who packed and especially the team that delivered until 7pm at night were totally over worked.

We’ll never move again so we’ve learned a lesson that’s now useless for us but perhaps others could learn from our experience.
