Very disappointing!!!

We recently hired Master Movers for their removal services. The market choice with price ranges for this service being extensive.

We explained to the company that there were too many items stored to itemise prior. Master Movers explained that it was sufficient that they would carry out their service if we ONLY provided the square metre area of storage where the items were stored. Therefore for simplisity, we chose them.

Alternative companies would have charged more but would have registered and counted items for removal for a fixed fee which was more expensive.

We were on site and assisted in the transfer of items from storage unit to their vehicle but had no input regarding the placing of items on the truck container. We observed that space was lost on the vehicle due to lack of thought on space saving, which was the first problem, although this didn’t occur as an major issue at the time. The goods were to be transferred from Cape Town storage to a storage facility in Bloemfontein.

On our arrival next day in Bloemfontein we were informed that there would be a further R7,000 added to the cost due to, as they explained “Volume of items to be transferred.”

Add to this after heated telephone discussions with the company in contesting this surprise shock that if the R7000 were not paid, the vehicle would drive off with our property with Master Movers then instigating court procedings against us.

Unfortunately all the business in agreeing the initial fee along with the argument regarding the extra cost was conducted by telephone which has given them leeway on the matter with nothing in writing.

I find shocking that a company can just arbitrarily add an ******ionate amount like this with no logical explanation or breakdown of prices.

Had this been explained from the start, it would infuenced my decision. Now, taking in all the above, I would definately NOT have hired Master Movers and would strongly advise anyone to invest a little extra for removals that would cost the same given this companies added hidden cost.
