I had an interesting experience at Marks AutoCare Bellville. I took my car in for suspension work which was done well, a rear main seal replacement, and a washer bottle replacement. While the core mechanical work was handled adequately nothing egregious caught my eye first inspection round and the suspension feels good, the only gripe is they did not correctly replace the lining in the boot but I fixed this myself. Initial impressions of the rear main seal are fine since I can't see it, it is not leaking which is good but their attention to detail and post-repair quality control are incredibly poor to say the least. When I picked up the car, the front bumper was slightly misaligned enough to catch my eye and fender liner not replaced properly with clips missing their retaining clips to hold the fender liner following the washer bottle replacement. Upon inspecting the engine bay, I discovered they had broken multiple trim clips and simply left them as is without replacing them until I explicitly pointed it out. The washer bottle was replaced but the car still complains about low washer fluid before it would only do it after 1 or 2 sprays meaning the sensor was working before this just didn't hold a lot of washer fluid due to a leak or crack. The biggest issue, however, was the cooling system. They clearly did not bleed the coolant properly after the rear main seal replacement which is required due to the car having a transmission cooler of the heat exchanger type. When I noticed the overfilled reservoir tank , their immediate excuse was that they "added more coolant because there might be an airlock" which is a direct admission that the system was not bled at all, which should have been a red flag for me but I took the car under expert advice. When driving the car it was starting to overheat not a kilometre from them, I had to limp the car basically to Goldwagen to cool down as I had somewhere to be. When I went back to highlight this, the story changed, and they claimed they don't even stock the pink P-OAT coolant my car requires. It was a blatant attempt to dodge accountability. I ultimately had to sit outside a Goldwagen buy the pink stuff and distilled water to properly bleed the cooling system myself to ensure my engine didn't overheat. If I did not monitor the vehicle meticulously after this then the engine would have went kapoot. If you use them, expect decent heavy mechanical work, but be prepared to thoroughly inspect your vehicle before leaving, because their finishing work/quality assurance is missing, so be sure to know exactly what your car went in for, impact of work done to the car so you can be sure to monitor it afterwards. I would expect the workshop to do incident analysis and implement an action plan to ensure this does not happen to a customer again as if they were not informed about cars in general then it would have been a bad time.

I brought my car in for a routine service and left more frustrated than when I arrived. First, they promised a full clean as part of the service — my car came back just as dirty as when I dropped it off. Didn't even bother wiping down the dashboard, let alone an actual wash. If you can't be bothered to do the simple things you promise, what does that say about the work I can't see? Then came the real kicker: they tried to tell me I urgently needed new front and rear wipers, brakes, and a radiator flush. The problem? I had all of that done myself just two months ago. So either their technicians didn't even bother to check before "diagnosing" these issues, or they knew exactly what they were doing and hoped I wouldn't notice. Neither option is acceptable. This isn't sloppy service — it's a deliberate attempt to charge customers for work that was never needed. I have zero confidence in their honesty or competence at this point. I will not be returning, and I'd strongly encourage anyone considering this place to get a second opinion before agreeing to any "recommended" work. Completely unacceptable experience.

Took my car in for a service, the lost my service book so frustrating, my car has this funny sound as I drive also. Mainly how is it possible for a company to loose a clients service book?? Shows how *********** they are and I had to call everyday to find out if they found it!!! There are cameras around yet no sign of my book till this day. No manager has informed me why or any apologies this one is the Tokia branch.

I took my vehicle to Marks AutoCare Green Point for an A/C issue. They diagnosed my compressor as having 'internal damage' and stated it needed total replacement. I paid the R13,266.10 total invoice (which included R10,384.50 for the compressor and a regas) under protest and insisted on keeping my original, allegedly damaged compressor. I subsequently took my original compressor to an independent, accredited A/C Fitment Centre for a bench test. The independent specialist provided a formal, written quotation and diagnostic report stating explicitly: 'No UV dye present & no other internal damages visible.' The independent report confirmed my original compressor did not have catastrophic internal damage as claimed by Marks AutoCare, and was repairable for R4,950. Furthermore, the lack of UV dye indicates a standard leak test was not performed before condemning the expensive component. My A/C system is currently empty, meaning the regas I was charged for leaked out due to an unfixed issue. I have submitted the independent diagnostic report and my formal dispute to the RMI (Retail Motor Industry Organisation) for resolution. I strongly advise getting a second, independent opinion before approving expensive component replacements here.
