Stay away from Mahindra Vehicles

I was going to buy me the new Mahindra Double Cab for my wife this month, but i have now completely decided against it. I will never buy a Mahindra vehicle again and will make all means possible to advise people to stay away from this brand. I bought myself a Mahindra XUV 500 W6 in March 2014. The fixed radio in the vehicle have been replaced twice already when it was within warranty. Prior to the replacement it made a popping sound and did not work anymore. I was never provided with a reason why this happened, but I would assume that the radio blew. My vehicle is now out of warranty. Today, it made the same popping sound and the radio do not work anymore. I took it to Mahindra in Raceview to check for me. They said that i need to book the vehicle in which will cost me R1,350.00 to check for the fault. If the radio needs to be replaced AGAIN it will cost me R25,000.00 to replace. The guy at the dealership said that they often get these vehicles in to replace the radios. He said that each car have its problems. This is an indication that it is a common problem on the Mahindra vehicles. It is definitely the first time that i know of that a vehicle's radio blow so many times. This is the third time that the radio in my Mahindra blows. My vehicle has 95,000km on the clock and i have it for 5 years. Previously my tailgate did not want to open. When i took it in they fixed the problem. The same issue occurred a second time and they insisted that the harness be replaced. I warn everyone to please stay away from Mahindra vehicles.

No response from Mahindra. Mahindra after sales servise is absolutely pathetic. I have received information from a person who use to work for Mahindra that the problem on the radio that blows is a common one. Mine has been replaced twice and now have a problem again for the third time. I also hear the cars gear boxes start their problems at around R150,000.00.

The Infotainment System in my vehicle have blown for the third time Since I bought the car in March 2014. I have learned that it is a common problem on this car and that Mahindra was aware of this particular problem. I understand the warranty issue, but am extremely disappointed in Mahindra for this if they knew that this is an issue on the vehicle. Mahindra carry the cost of fixing the problem until the warrenty expire and then afterward the problem is with the owner. This is very unfair. When i was at the Raceview dealership the other day the person in the services department also told me that they get these vehicles on a regular basis to replace the radios and it is a problem. I just spoke to a person who fixes the problem on the radio’s for people after the warranty expires. He advised me that there is countless issues with the radio on the XUV 500, and that Mahindra was well aware of the issue in that it was a production fault on the vehicle. Mahindra fix the problem until the warranty expires and then leave problem of the owner. Shrug their shoulders and fall back on the fact that the vehicle is out of warranty, there is nothing they can do. I am told that the infotainment system only lasts for 2 to 3 years due to a factory fault. This is ********* practice in my mind. Apparently it is a resistor or a chip on the system that gets too hot and then blows which result in the whole infotainment system to not work. For me it is not about the warranty and that it expired. If it was my fault I will take responsibility and pay. But, It is the third time it happened on my vehicle. For a radio to blow this many times on any vehicle is extreme. If Mahindra was aware of the problem on the infotainment system on the XUV 500 why didn’t they sort the problem. We have a lot of people out there complaining about the same problem and other radio experts that can testify that Mahindra was aware of this fault. Some of your Current and ex-staff members at your dealership (Mahindra Raceview) told me that the Infotainment blowing is a common problem on the vehicle, why then can Mahindra not take responsibility if they were aware of the problem , and that this was a production line fault. Please do yourself a favour and go and look at the Facebook sites and see what people say in particularly this exact issue. Worst 4*4*far; Kamp Mal; and Sleep Saam If Mahindra had the integrity they would rectify the problem, even after the warranty have expired, because this is a production fault and ********* practice by the company.
