Mahindra SA
Good morning
I have a few complaints with regards to the Mahindra XUV300 which was bought in July 2019 at the Westrand Dealership.
1) I booked the vehicle for the 10 000km service on Monday the 11th November 2019, and was told by the lady at the Service Department to bring the car in on Wednesday the 13th November 2019 at 07h30. When I got there on Wednesday, there was no booking for my car. However they did take the car for the service. I asked them to look at the following issues on the car: The screen (Radio, Navigation, etc.) will open and close for up to half an hour, then it would stabilize and work The numbers on the Gear lever is loose When I drive up hill with the car, the car will jerk until I am on a flat road again and this happens in any gear and at any speed
Needless to say, not one of these requests were fixed. As my brother was told when he went to see them, they only did an oil change on the car.
I requested them to drop me off at work, and collect me around 15h00 as I work in Randburg and the traffic is hectic in that area. My first call to them was at 3:25, and I was told the driver is on his way. I called again on 4:03, 4:36, 4:52 and 5:23. Every time I was told the driver is on his way, which was a lie, and not once did anybody from the Service Department phone me back to inform me of the progress on this issue. According to Kingsley (the driver) they called him after 4 and told him to pick me up. He arrived at my workplace at 5:40. Due to the traffic and rain we arrive at the Mahindra Dealership after 7:00. The lady who had to arrange with the driver to pick me up went home at her normal time. Kingsley, 2 Salesmen and DP was waiting so that I could get my car. My Service Book was not stamped and signed as proof that they did the 10 000km service. Until today, I did not receive any call from that Dealership to apologize for this, which is unacceptable when it comes to Customer Service.
2) On Friday morning, the 15th November 2019 I was on my way to work. The traffic light in front of me was red, and there were quite a few cars in front of me. As I just turned a corner, I was going slow. I then started to brake, as the traffic light was red, and suddenly I couldn’t press the brake pedal down. The brake pedal was so hard, I couldn’t press it to down to brake. I tried to move to the right side of the road in order to miss the cars in front of me, however, there were already cars moving from the other side of the traffic light in that lane. As I had nowhere else to go, I drove into the back of a VW Polo.
3) So apart from the brake system failure, not one of my airbags deployed, and my safety belt did not lock to keep my body in place. I hit the steering wheel with my chest at the time of the impact which meant my sternum got damaged.
I phoned my brother to come and assist me, as well as my Insurance. My brother (GD Bronkhorst) tested the brakes and agreed that there is a big problem as one cannot press the pedal down. Mr Kobus Pieterse from First Help who towed my car to the Mahindra yard, was with my brother when he tested the brakes.
I discussed this with my Insurance, and they will not issue any instructions regarding this car before we receive a reply from you. Their details are as follows: Claim no: *** Advisor: Michelle Surjoopersadh Contact number: *** / ***
Please note that I am not interested in receiving this car back. Next time I might **** someone because of another brake failure, airbags not deploying and the safety belt not working as it should.
Please advise on the progress of this investigation.
PS. I would not anyone to buy this vehicle
