Bad service from Mahindra
We bought a Mahindra Pikup from Mahindra George in June 2024 to start a business. At the time I was offered to to take the maintenance plan for about R23k as optional. To help me make that decision I asked the salesman how much the initial services would cost. He the proceeded to cal the service department who came back and told us that the first (10000km) service would cost about R4500 and thereafter excluding major it would cost more or less R2500. Based on this info we decided to not take the maintenance plan and rather pay cash for the services. When the first service was due we asked for a quotation and all of a sudden the amount was R6800. Included in this service was the replacement of the cabin air filters for an astonishing R1200 excluding labour. Also included was the replacement of diff oil at R900, which is very unusual at 10k km for most vehicles. I have never had any of these items serviced on any vehicle I owned on the initial service. We questioned this and was told that this comes from Mahindra head office and if we don't do any of these we would loose the vehicles guarantee. Is this how Mahindra makes money out of clients who don't take their maintenance plan? Then we had a second issue. The front window developed a crack on the driver's side. Our driver said he did not recall having any stone or anything hit him. We sent the vehicle to PG Glass, Mosselbay and they informed us that the crack originate from under the rubber seal from the edge of the window and was therefor a factory fault. The vehicle had aboout 6k kms at this stage. On inquiry with Mahindra head office we were told there is nothing that they can do as the warranty does not cover this. This is totally unacceptable and very bad service from Mahindra.
