Questionable business ethics!!
I’ve bought a unit at circa Lynwood earlier in 2024 , once the unit was registered I spent months filing in forms to register for levies with no success. Eventually I get a sms saying my account is in arrears with a debt collection fee added and total. No information of where to pay etc.. I contacted the number that was on the sms and around 2 days later got all the details of where to pay. I then settled the account in full and came to an agreement with the portfolio manager that it wasn’t my fault I had not paid and the fees were removed. Literally 7 days later I get another notification saying im in areas once again and a email and sms fee of R135 added to the statement. I then connected with the portfolio manager again to clarify, once again agreed that I should pay and the R135 would be removed. The next day I get a phonecall and I explained my discussion with the portfolio manager. I’ve paid the outstanding balance and even paid another month in advance and now another R25 has been added for the phonecall.. I can’t believe that it is legal practice to keep adding fees like this to client statements simply because a business has the power to do whatever they want. At this rate, I’ll always be in debt and paying for unnecessary fees simply due to statement and notification misalignment.
