Mafadi Properties refund nightmare
I made a enquiry on a property in December 2025, I was contacted by an agent who would assist me with info and the process. I was happy with the pictures of the property inside and wouldn't be able to physically view until the 5th of January 2026. She advised that I pay 1250 to block the unit, and requested I send my documents so she could process the application on my behalf, I payed the blocking(lease fee) amount plus a deposit prior to viewing. Upon viewing the property on the 5th of January 2026 I was unhappy with certain aspects of grounds keeping, rats etc, I then declined to proceed and requested a refund on the lease fee and deposit as i had not yet signed the lease. The agent who was initially very helpful at the start was now slow to respond and at times not picking up my calls, I decided to drive to their offices in Johannesburg and was helped by Mzukisi, this man tried everything to assist but a portfolio manager by the name of Tholi was not so keen to help, she refused outright a refund on my lease saying it was none refundable, I explained that this was not communicated to me, she tried to pull my signed leased application from the system to prove that I was aware and consented on the application, but could not find my application as I had communicated to her that I did not complete the application myself, it was done by the agent to which the agent also admitted and apologized to her manager. She still insited she would not pay my lease fee, and that I would recieve my deposit on Tuesday 12 January 2026. Till date I have not received my money, she ignores my calls and whatsapp messages, but responds when her colleague Mzukisi requests feed back, her only response to him being "I sent an email to refunds". The agent yesterday also ignored my messages and calls and all the other numbers Mzukisi provided to me for me to escalate also do not respond or pick up. It's very unprofessional how they conduct business and how clients are treated and when they practice their choice to not proceed.
Thank you for reaching out, am sorry for the bad experience. I have escalated this to the office to assists you further. Thank
