DO NOT RENT FROM MAFADI PROPERTY

No matter how nice the flat is / how reasonable thr rent is, DO NOT rent from Mafadi Property Management. Should have trusted the reviews and not given them benefit if a doubt before moving in in January.

I unfortunately started missing my rent because of the lockdown wasn't able to work for 3months because the tv and film industry wasn't operating. I made payment arrangements with them which I stuck to and I agreed to start paying my rent in full again from the first of August with an additional top up of R2500 monthly (which is 50%) of my rent. I stuck to the payment arrangement and did so. Every other day it would be a new story from Mafadi and I would have to be explaning everything from scratch again with a different agent because they don't communicate with each other. Luckily I have everything in writing over emails so I had a leg to stand on.

They cut off my electricity and I had to fight for them to put it back on as I had paid the agreed amount for that month. Then a couple of weeks later I received a letter of demand despite paying my rent in full and the top up amount. Then two or so days later I received a notice to vacate despite me sticking to the payment arrangements made prior.

I managed to (what I thought) sort everything put but the next week my caretaker told me that there are people at my flat to evict me and she managed to speak to them and tell them to give me until the weekend which still isn't proper notice. Please note that these people came to evict me despite me accepting their initial notice to vacate end of August .

I had to find a new flat and pay a new deposit asap because I didn't have much time. I moved out and they said they would use my deposit to settle some of my arreas so I didn't make a payment on the 1st of Sept because it won't come from my deposit and I had to pay for a new deposit for a new flat.

We had come to a payment arrangement that would have me settle everything the end of November as they gave me a 5 month deferral. My brother has now been blacklisted, he received an email today.

Mafadi property is a dishonest company, they don't know how to treat people and they have no communication skills. I was constantly dealing with rude agents and I hope that they are held accountable for all their accounts as I have always been transparent with them even sending them bank statements.
