The Lack of Experience, knowledge of M.A.C products and bad attitude towards customers.
As it was a new season I had found that the previous make up shade I had bought was seemingly too dark for my summer skin tone . On the 3rd of October, I went to purchase M.AC. foundation and powder at mall of Africa Edgars. Little did I know that, simple powder and foundation would bring such a bad experience. A guy called Luther first tested my face to see which foundation would suit my skin tone as there was a difference between my winter skin tone and summer skin tone. He tested half of my face and I told him I didn't believe the colour he tested suited my completion or skin tone. He insisted the colour was fine it could be due to indoor lighting hence it appeared to light for my skin. I then took the products paid R920 an went on my way. The morning after I got ready for work and app**** my make up as I would normally do, the foundation wasn't blending with my skin , I app**** the powder I became orange I literally looked like a Ghost.
I was so furious, I went to work with a orangye looking face and while at work called M.A,C offices at mall of Africa and explained what happened an that Luther needed to explain himeslf as his the " trained professional that was suppose to know what was best for me as a client at the time and now his not at work. The manger Phindi said I should come through and they will see what to do. Again had to waste time and petrol drive to mall of Africa to show them the products recommended by of their employees. Another make artist called Sips , attended to me immediately after showing him the foundation and powder previously recommended by Luther he was shocked. He immediately said I quote "that color isn't right for your skin tone". I was filled with so much anger as to why would a trained make up artist refer me the wrong products to begin with. Then sips repeated the exact things Luther did the previous day tested a portion of my face and told me NC55 and dark tan would be the correct colour combination for my skin tone. I left there feeling better thinking finally someone who knows what they doing, but I was wrong.
I had to be in cape town for work the following week, thinking am gone try this make while am there, I felt weird as it still didn't agree with my tone and I thought maybe am still traumatized by Luthers last prescribed/recommended make up. I did a week and so on but still I wasn't as confident about the makeup as at times it felt as if I had to use allot or it and by away by 10am it fades away. It was just a mess, and this time I couldn't go back to tell them I need a refund cause I was working in cape town. Now I came back went to the shop, last week Wednesday on the 25th f October 2017 to try and explain that I wasn't happy. I had called M.A.C/ Este lauder head office and explained to them whats been happening. they gave me full support to return the products and that I would be assisted when I got to M.A.C mall of Africa. After I called the head office, I also called Sips the make up artist who had done the second consultation/recommendation. He told me the manager was not there, I should come over when shes around. I explained to him he was being unprofessional, whether or not the manger is there. He should try and assist, after he heard I was becoming irritated he told me to come through. When I got there he was nowhere to be found, he had left work, who does that. Why did he give me the impression that he, would be around to explain and make me understand how do two so called trained professionals get it wrong to recommend the correct make up. As he had disappeared i then spoke to a lady whom i cant recall the name, she was extremely rude and me telling she cant help me cause am not her client, I was astonished with her behavior. To me if you work somewhere whether or not you gave me the service the fact that you representing a brand you should protect and show respect to the people that support that brand. She also went as far as telling me she, I wont get a refund as I used some of the foundation. I asked what was I suppose to do cause when you start something at times you may feel, its not working or blending cause you could be judging the product based on your previous experience and I was told at the store to use the product and see how it looks.
So a simple make up purchase has become a bad, traumatic, humiliating , time wasting and money wasting Please understand the above am not writing this because am desperate for your refunds but more so to expose the injustice of how customers I ripped of their hard earned money. an treated as if they mean nothing mean while we sustain your businesses but your employees treat us like we are trash and don't deserve good service.
Great training and knowledge of M.A.C products is still needed amongst M.A.C. employees.
