Cracking lipstick

I went to Mac last night to buy a lipstick and it cracks on the lips. I then return it the next day and I’m told they can’t accept it coz I’ve used it. How was I going to know that it cracks. I had bought a lipstick before at Mac and it did the Same thing and I never returned it it’s new and just sitting as I can’t use it. What am I supposed to do with 2 lipsticks that crack on the lips so I need to keep them as what trophies. This is really unacceptable and will not be accepting this.
