I have black hair instead of golden brow

I have light auburn hair, with blonde highlighs, however,the blonde started to fade, so I though I will colour my hair light golden brown, so that it is very close to my natural hair colour (which I've been growing for over 3 years now). Guess what- the colour is black. I though at firts that it looked a bit dark, so I left it on for only 13 minutes. My hair is black!!!!! - now I have to cut 3 years worth of growth again!!! I wanted to get married with my natural haircolour in 3 years from now- with looong hair... I do not want to bleach this **** out of my hair!!!
