Zapper and stock delays - expectations not managed upfront
Placed an order for a textbook urgently needed, online on Saturday. I have not had issues with Loot in the past.
One of the options for payment was Zapper, which seemed easier and safer than entering CC details, and has been immediate at every point I've used it in the past. Not the case here.
Once I placed the order, the items still showed in my cart, not as order placed. No change on Sunday. After paying >R1000, this was concerning. I emailed over the weekend and received the standard "has been forwarded" email this morning.
After calling now, the order has been marked as Pending and has an order number, and I hope it will be delivered over the next few days (eta says 26th), but am disappointed in the online platform not stating that Zapper payments have to reflect on Loot side before orders are placed, possibly causing 2days' delays (vs using a card for example, according to customer service representative).
They have also advised that this is best case scenario, and items will be further delayed if there is not stock. This is also not noted on the website.
I'd recommend managing the expectation from Loot side. IF delivery takes longer, but is cheaper, there will always be a market. Perhaps an added discount for further delays. But it leaves a bitter taste when delays are not transparent, or norms like Zapper reflecting instantly, not being the case, AND is not communicated up front.
