They call it Loot because that's what they do to your money
On 27 April I ordered an item that had been advertised via Loot's daily e-mail flyer. There were only 5 of the item and I managed to purchase the 1st one. The transaction was concluded and my credit card was duly billed and an invoice issued. A day later Loot sent me an e-mail saying "Sorry, but the item we advertised was wrong, and actually we want to send you a different item, which is far inferior and is, in fact, technology that is over 4 years old." Of course I objected, and insisted that they deliver the advertised item, which was paid for. In the mean-time, the links to the advertised item have been removed (thank-goodness I took screenshots) and it is as if the item never existed on their website - for the record, links to other items advertised on the same flyer still exist and are fully functional at the time of writing). There was then no further communication from Loot until I followed up a week later asking what the status of the order is. Of course, I now get another story that they are trying to find me a replacement item and that there were problems with their server which meant the item description had become *******ed...so basically a massive BS explanation, AND an outright refusal to commit to a date when they will actually fulfill the order.. Anyway, I have now told them to cancel the order (let's hope they're better at cancelling than delivering...) - which may feel like a victory to Loot, because they do not have to take the loss for their mess-up, but actually they have permanently lost me as a customer (I've spent on average almost R2k per month with Loot over the last 12 months), and hopefully this message will cause other people to think carefully before doing business with them.
Hello David,
Your frustration with us is understandable and we sincerely apologise for causing it.
It is an error we truly regret (a person mistakenly connected the incorrect price with this product description). This has been corrected, which is why the link is updated too.
Our apologies as well for the delay in confirming your replacement order.
However, as mentioned we had already reserved stock for you, to avoid any delays in delivering.
We hope that you will reconsider accepting the order from us, which we should be able to deliver next week.
Kindly note that we have checked our email records and definitely did not state what you have quoted as our words.
We do try to avoid mistakes and provide a good service and sincerely apologise again for letting you down this time.
Kind regards,
Laura Seymour.
