Pre-orders

I pre-ordered a game called Forza Horizon 4 Ultimate Edition. This bundle was advertised with a "4-day Early Access" bonus. Meaning that I was supposed to receive it today 28th of September. My pre-order payment was made on the 26th. I was informed that the game will only be dispatched to me on or after the 8th of October. So why do I spend extra to benefit from an early release if I only receive it 10 days later?? What's the point of a pre-order.
