Polaroid and Loot in cohoots
My name is... order number LSHM 256... , I placed an order for a Polaroid 8" trolley speaker on the 18th of December 2019,as a first time buyer on Loot. Co. Za, thinking that I was was buying a product that comes from a brand that was known for quality and had a reputation of amongst the best, this is Polaroid.
The product gets delivered on the 2nd of January 2020 by FedEx, I open the sealed box immediately with excitement and joy as I wait to experience all the promises made by Polaroid and Loot. Co. Za, I reluctantly plug it into Eskoms grid, and immediately notice something is wrong, no its not eskom its the digital display on the front of the unit, the last part of the display does not show a complete figure, okay? Anyway... I connect to Bluetooth, play my favourite song and try to adjust the three controls claiming to customise the sound experience? Then Boom! Nothing happens. Silence, well it should have been. I try to overlook the drama so far, but by now a little dissapointment has set in.
So I decide to check out more of the features... Let me play the radio, because this is where I find peace. Tune the mode to Radio where I'm entertained by the usual white noise, as I instinctively press the "forward" button and begin to search for the station that 'Loves You', the white noise gets louder and louder and the radio moves from AM to FM thinking that there may be a certain sequence to tune a radio staion I try as many combinations of the buttons as possible but It quickly becomes clear that the "forward" and "back" buttons meant to tune the radio or skip a track were actually adjusting the volume instead of finding any station by now.
Listening to white noise and desperate not to accept the fact that I waited three weeks for a faulty unit. I make the unfortunate decision to return the product back to Loot. Co. Za, I take pictures of the faults (attached) and log a call for them to come and pick up this non functioning unit I purchased from them.
They pick it up the next day 3rd of January 2020, and send me a email explaining the policies regarding returns, In the email it stated that one of their consultants would give me a call in the week as it was on a Saturday and a Sunday when I logged the return , the name Kelly comes up, I thought Kelly was a guy turns out its a woman who is not there, so I wait Monday becomes Tuesday, and I wait and I wait, Wednesday becomes one week, two weeks three weeks still no contact from anyone, by now my patience is wearing thin, all I have left to hold onto now is the tracking feature on Loot. Co. Za.. Where it simply states 'product on order' all that time.
Knowing full well that the December festivities are over and I will have to wait another year to been seen and heard at all the gatherings, given that the replacement product lasts that long judging by what I originally received. Also knowing that all the staff of these two companies somehow ate their share from my hard earned money. I feel ****** now, I'm losing faith in South Africa at this point, I blame Donald Trump then I realise no I have to blame myself how could I ever trust a place like loot? The name says it all they 'loot' your money from you selling unreliable products then then they never contact you back or follow up or even know anything about my order. I spoke to Lyle and Robin who both did not bother to follow up after we spoke, Kelly who's that? If she is not there does the whole company cease to operate? Then 'Polaroid' let them be in inverted commas. How long does it take you to see that you have failed your customer, what happened to all the checks and balances that need to be done before a product can be deemed up to standard? And leave the factory floor to be exchanged for money? Clearly those procedures need to be looked at because the ones you have now and the employees excuting them have failed.
By today I have reached my limit, I no longer want the product that has caused me so much distress all I wanted was a speaker that works and delivers on my expectations, and now it has become a nightmare for me, I don't even want to look at the speaker I don't wanna sing karaoke on the speaker. I want a full refund of my money and I will continue until justice is met for my hard earned money and my trolley speaker that didn't even get to attend one function. I'd rather go back to takealot where I trust and know and as soon as I have another thousand rand in airtime I will persist in calling and investigating until I receive some sort of communication from any of the artificial intelligence behind these two phantom companies that I won't even type again.
