Loot.co.za and the Phantom Prize
A while ago, I entered a joint competition I discovered via Facebook. It was one between Loot.co.za and 3 other South African brands. I was one of twelve prize winners, and my prize was to be delivered by Loot.co.za. An electric tempered glass heater worth R1500. It has been over a month and I have received absolutely no courtesy email or call from The Company, and definitely no delivery of this prize as promised. Winter is now over in SA, so I am not fretting over a free heater - however I am upset that companies such as these are using the guise of competitions where all we have to do is sign up to newsletters and direct our friends to their Facebook pages - and we can apparently win something for it. Lesson learned - there is no such thing as a free lunch. Loot.co.za not only has pathetic delivery times but also has unfaithful intent behind hosting such competitions and uses gimmicky marketing tactics to attract a better online following. I have tried on three different occasions to see the status of my supposed prize delivery, but I have received the hand of a vague response from whoever handles phantom prize emails on their side. Very disappointing.
