Loot delays resolution of payment issues and then retracts offer

I attempted to purchase a generator online using Discovery Miles and my credit card on Tuesday 31-05. The first attempt at the purchase failed - on the second attempt the reservation was made on my credit card. Later that afternoon I received an email saying that payment was outstanding and I logged on to find that the payment had not been logged with Loot. I phoned Loot and spoke to Michaela who informed me that Discovery Miles transactions could take 2 days to reflect and that the person who deals with Discovery was not in the office but that she would get back to me. She extended the payment period to ensure the transaction was not cancelled.

On Thursday 2nd I phoned Loot and spoke to Shelley - explaining the situation. She asked me to send proof of the reservation, which I did. Accounts phoned me and after a discussion they agreed to contact Discovery to get the reservation reversed so that I could redo the transaction. Today I received an email from Shelley saying that they were still waiting to hear from Discovery. I need the generator, so decided to pay again with the reservation reversal, since the automatic reversal happens after 7 days.

Shelley from Loot then phoned me telling me they are unable to offer me the generator at the special price - the offer has expired. A technical issue on Loot's site prevented payment. I phoned them to resolve and they extended payment deadline and they delayed resolution. Because of THEIR delays they will now not honour their special.

Hello Ivan

Firstly we would like to apologise for all the issues you have experienced with using your discovery miles.

Unfortunately the first attempt of payment failed due to an error with Discovery transferring the miles to us.

The only way to rectify a situation like that is to have the transaction reversed and to recreate the order. Once the second payment came through to us the item was out of stock.

We have attempted to acquire the item for you however we are not able to source one at this time. We will keep attempting to source one for you and as soon as we do, we will most definitely honor the price you were initially offered.

We are truly sorry to have disappointed you.

Kind Regards,
Laura Seymour
